Ongoing projects

SIRM (2023-2027): The Socioeconomic Integration of Refugees and Migrants (SIRM) project (funding €1.3M) is a 4-year Interreg project led by RRDA (Rzsezow Regional Development Agency, Poland). The University of Groningen team (funding 189K) comprises Thijs Broekhuizen (PI), Florian Noseleit, Michael Wyrwich, and Sandra Nijgh. As an advisory partner, we contribute to six Transnational Learning Meetings and seven online meetings.

TAP Social Innovation (2020 - 2024): In this joint project, we work together with researchers from Queen's University (Canada), the University of Wuppertal (Germany), and Oxfam (UK) to provide insights that help spread social innovations. This 3-year project, funded by NWO as part of the Trans-Atlantic Platform collaboration, focuses especially on the difficulties of scaling social innovation and how collaborative approaches may help to overcome barriers to adopt novel solutions.

PASSPARTOOL (2020 - 2023): Together with Thijs Broekhuizen (PI) and Erzsi Meerstra-de Haan we contribute as a knowledge partner to the PASSPARTOOL project, which is led by L'agorà dell'innovazione in Puglia (ARTI), Bari, Italy. The project aims to stimulate social innovation and introduce assessment and monitoring tools. Click here for an interview about the background.

The rise of solo self-employment (2018-2019): Jointly with Evelien Croonen, we study the increasingly important group of solo self-employed in this project. With support from the Groningen University Fund (GUF) we study the consequences of the tremendous increase of this type of employment, focusing on well-being and inequality.
