prof. dr. F.A. (Floor) Rink
Floor Rink is Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen, where she also serves as Head of the Organizational Behavior department.
Her research draws on psychological and management perspectives to understand how people respond to economic and organizational challenges. She uses both quantitative and qualitative methods, including surveys, experiments, meta-analyses, archival data, and case studies. Her work focuses primarily on two areas: social inequality, including diversity, power, status, and identity processes, and strategic leadership, with particular attention to ethical decision-making and effective executive oversight. Her research has been published in international academic journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Psychological Science, the Journal of Applied Psychology, and the Academy of Management Annals.
Her work has received recognition from several national and international academic organizations, including the FEB Research Institute (FEBRI), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the Academy of Management, and has been financially supported by organizations and funding agencies, including the Dutch Research Council (NWO, e.g., the VIDI scheme and SSH open competition L grant). From 2019 to 2025, she served on the editorial team of the Academy of Management Journal. She currently serves as a guest editor for a special issue of the Journal of Management Studies.
Alongside her academic work, Floor seeks to make research accessible and relevant to practice. She regularly shares her findings through public presentations and the media, and advises executives and supervisory board members on leadership, diversity, and governance.
Floor obtained her Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Groningen and completed her PhD cum laude at Leiden University in 2005. She has been a visiting scholar at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and at the University of Exeter. She is currently affiliated as a researcher with the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at the Australian National University.
