Medicine is a common part of modern life. Almost everyone will have some form of medicines in their home, albeit common painkillers such as paracetamol, or more specific medicine such as insulin, or levothyroxine. But, how do these different medicines work? How do you make them perform better, or have less side effects? And how do you go from a chemical substance, to administrable medication? Combining Biology, Chemistry and Medicine, this is what you learn during the degree programme Pharmacy. Additionally, you will learn how to advice both patients and doctors on the safe and effective use of medication.

Web class

During this web class we will focus on one specific substance: Aspirin. The first three weeks cover how Aspirin is made, how to analyze the synthesized product and finally how the substance works plus what its side effects are. Finishing off the web class, you will study pharmacotherapy and experience what it’s like to be a pharmacist. For more information on the programme, the admission requirements and the job prospects?
