Mapping the contextual conditions of resilient decentralized energy systems (MACREDES), de Roo, Linda Steg and Bert Scholtens co-PI from the University of Groningen, and in collaboration with Gasunie, Hanze Hogeschool and Energy Valley.

Energielandschappen, de 3e generatie (Energy Landscaps, the third generation) resulted in a book edited by de Roo and Klaasjan Noorman. It deals with the entwinement of landscapes and energy in developing a sustainable future in the northern province of Drenthe.

Living in Leisure-rich Areas a vision for sustainable development of the northern provinces. Global Characteristics of Peri-urban change and planning. The aim of this work is to establish a special issue, with prof.dr. Gert de Roo, prof. dr. Johan Woltjer and colleagues at the Institute of Technology Bandung, University of Beijing, National Autonomous University of Mexico, Arizona State University, University of Groningen. This special issue is aiming, through case studies, to specify characteristics of spatial transformation in peri-urban areas worldwide, and suggest generic planning strategies.
