Within the Target project, RIS facilitates data storage of a number of internationally renowed research projects in the fields of space research (Lofar, SKA, Euclid) and health (Lifelines).

The extensive visualization facilities at its disposal (including a reality cube and a virtual reality theatre with a mega-multi-touchscreen) mean that a ‘lifelike’ virtual world can be created. A team of experts in this field can translate research data in to 3-D images. The advanced visualization facilities have been used countless times in recent years for research and projects both within and outside the university world.

Within the framework of an increasingly important role for research data in academia, a research data office is being worked on in cooperation with the University Library. This will offer researchers the support they need when drawing up data management plans and searching for a suitable way to store, archive and publish their data.
