Future Proof! Change the world with a science degree!

18 August 2015

Science LinX has a new temporary exhibition in the Bernoulliborg: Future Proof! Visitors are treated to a glimpse of factories of the future and given the opportunity to meet inspiring role models via video portraits.

The exhibition is primarily aimed at secondary school pupils who want to know what they can do with a science degree. Video portraits show some of the professions that are open to science graduates, and visitors can discover their own skills, examine their prejudices and leave a sketch of the future on the interactive ‘Draw your future’ tool.

Scientific research can change the future. We already have minuscule chips with a complete laboratory on them. The ‘serious game’ lab-on-a-chip gives you an idea of the technology behind these mini-labs. Other installations show how algae can produce raw materials, or how you can combine agriculture with fish farming.

But the future may not be as secure as we think: who is reading your e-mails or listening when you make a call on your mobile? A ‘speculative art’ model shows the solution: an unhackable data DUIF.

The Future Proof! exhibition will be in the hall of the Bernoulliborg (first floor) until the end of October. It is open during the building’s opening hours and admission is free. Schools can book a guided tour, in conjunction with another programme component if required. Contact Science LinX for any enquiries.
