Best presentation award for Colleen Caldwell
02 October 2026

Colleen Caldwell received the Best Presentation Award at the VISION Symposium 2026 for her talk "SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein drives formation of dynamic condensates to compact the viral genome." The symposium, held at the Centre for Structural Systems Biology in Hamburg, brought together researchers in structural virology from across Europe. In the Molecular Biophysics group of Prof. Wouter Roos at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, where she is a postdoctoral researcher, Colleen uses single-molecule approaches to uncover the mechanisms that viruses use to condense and package their genomes, combining optical tweezers with fluorescence microscopy to watch these processes in action.
