New research lines 2019

The Zernike Institute National Research Center, a joint initiative of ZIAM, GBB and Stratingh Institute has recently funded a new round of grants under the Bonus Incentive Scheme call for proposals. 23 PhD positions have been awarded, distributed over four new research projects and 37 Zernike NRC professors:

  • Cancer as a Materials Science problem
  • Emergent functionalities in atomically controlled 2D heterostructures
  • Up and Hot: Breaking the Shockley–Queisser limit
  • Out-of-equilibrium chemical systems: exploiting the fundamental principles of life
