Socio-economic and health inequalities

Socio-economic inequalities have impacted the wellbeing and lives of people in many different settings. Programmes to reduce such inequalities have only been partly successful. In our research we are looking for "new signifiers of inequality". This will be relevant at the regional as well as the global level and could also be linked to the sustainable development goals. Context is important to understand differences in outcomes of health and wellbeing between places and populations. This will require innovative approaches at the level of conceptualisation, data collection, and analysis. The rich constellation of expertise from our several clusters includes Sen's Capability Approach, a Life Course Approach, a Happiness Perspective amongst others. We will use data from ethnographic research and surveys using both qualitative and advanced quantitative demographic and econometric methods for its analysis.
