Welcome back! What rural areas can do to re-attract young adult leavers

Welcome to the website of the research project “Welcome back!”. In this project, we research young adults who have left rural areas, for example for education, and how they can be encouraged to return to the region where they grew up at a later age. The research is a collaboration between the provinces of Groningen, Fryslân, Drenthe, and Overijssel, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, and the University of Groningen.

This research explores the various initiatives rural areas can develop to stay in touch with young adult leavers and encourage them to return at some point.
