New Key Publication: Organoids as a model to study intestinal and liver dysfunction in severe malnutrition
Highlights:
•Amino acid deficiency induces reversible loss of peroxisomes and mitochondria.
•Hepatic organoids show reversible lipid accumulation upon amino acid removal.
•Intestinal barrier permeability is compromised in the presence of low amino acids.
•Organoids are a suitable model to test metabolic function and treatment for malnutrition.
