Open Science Programme Organization
“We are moving towards a future where there is only one way to do science and that is open science” -- Casper Albers, Dean of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences and Chair of the Steering Committee of the OSP

The Open Science Programme was initiated as a initiative within the University of Groningen’s previous strategic plan, where it served as a spearhead for advancing openness, transparency, and collaboration in research and education. It continues to play a central role in the current strategic plan as one of the university’s thematic priorities.

The programme is owned by the Rector Magnificus on behalf of the University Board and is implemented through a broad, university-wide collaboration that combines bottom-up and top-down approaches. This includes oversight by the Steering Committee, strategic coordination by the Chief Open Science and Programme Management, leadership within thematic pillars by Pillar Leaders, and active engagement through the Open Science Community Groningen and the network of Open Science Ambassadors.

The Steering Committee provides strategic guidance and oversight for the Open Science Programme.
