Kapteyn Mobile Planetarium

The Kapteyn Mobile Planetarium is an inflatable dome of 3.5 meters high and 6 meters in diameter. On the inside of dome interactive films are projected of the starry sky and all the beauty in the universe. The dome is intended for educational purposes and will therefore mainly be used for school visits. A whole school class fits inside the dome.

Book the planetarium

If you are interested to get a visit from the planetarium, you can fill in the online application form. To avoid disappointment, it is wise to first check whether the date of your preference is not already booked. This can be done by looking in the planetarium agenda. Please note that the dome can only be used indoors; therefore, an empty space is required of at least 7 by 7 meters, with a high ceiling.

The planetarium will mainly be used for school visits in the northern provinces of the Netherlands (Drenthe, Friesland and Groningen). In the central/southern provinces, the Nederlandse Onderzoekschool voor Astronomie visit schools with a similar mobile planetarium.
