On Saturday, October 5, DOT Groningen is open for everybody, to explore the wondrous world of exoplanets together with us during the National Weekend of Science. Entrance is free. Live planetarium shows will be given every half hour from 12:00 - 17:00.

In the previous years, we have discovered that nearly all stars are have one or more companions in the form of exoplanets. These faraway worlds are difficult to see, as they are outshone by their host stars. Nevertheless, astronomers are able to 'see' them, using the world's biggest telescopes, and discover something new on a regular basis.

During this show, astronomers from the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute in Groningen will tell you about the techniques we use to detect and investigate them, and will take you along on a journey to some of these woundrous places.

From 12:00 - 17:00 a show will be given every half hour in DOT, Vrydemalaan 2 in Groningen. All ages are welcome and entrance is free. The shows will be given in both English and Dutch. Book your tickets quickly, while they are still available!
