Each year the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute organizes the Blaauw Lecture. This is a lecture by an internationally renowned astronomer which everyone, including the general public, can attend. The level of the lecture is such that everyone should be able to understand it. This year, the Blaauw Lecture will be given by dr. Marta Volonteri of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris. It will take place on Tuesday November 5 in the Aula of the Academy Building of the University of Groningen. It starts at 8 p.m.
The subject of this year's Blaauw Lecture is: "Massive black holes at the heart of galaxies"
