Protest seems to be the current state of affairs in many Latin American countries. What are the origins of these protests, why now, how serious are they, will they spread even more across Latin America, and how will it affect the rest of the world? To get an answer to these and other questions, GSG's Deputy Director Gerda van Roozendaal will be in conversation with Professor Michiel Baud (UvA).

Speaker bio: Between 2000 and 2018, Michiel Baud was Director of the Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation in Amsterdam, and is Professor in Latin American Studies at the University of Amsterdam. He has published extensively about Latin American and Caribbean politics, history and social movements.
