I recently started as funding officer at the Faculty of Arts. It feels good to be back at this wonderful faculty!

Once upon a time I greatly enjoyed being a student here, of English and Romance languages and cultures and translation studies. I never truly said goodbye to the Harmonie, as I soon joined the Language Centre translation service, as translator and ultimately team lead.

In 2020, I moved on to become a grant proposal and nominations editor at Talent Development (Research & Impact) and, in 2023, I started as funding officer at the faculties of Religion, Culture and Society, and Spatial Sciences.

Outside my job, I am part of the Advisory Board to the Dutch Foundation of Literature, where I am “at the other end of the table”: together with my fellow committee members I assess grant applications.

The great thing about being funding officer is that I see the latest developments in academia pass me by – such creative and novel ideas! They make me feel excited and want to guide and support the researchers of our faculty as best as I can, so that these plans can become a reality.

A large part of the week, particularly on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays, you can find me in room 1315.0339, opposite my fellow funding officer. Come by if you have any questions or make an appointment with us about your grant proposal. You can also reach us at funding.arts rug.nl. We are here to help!
