GRIP welcomes Dr Yingying Cong
Dr Cong was recently awarded a VENI grant in the NWO's prestigious Talent Scheme (domain Science), which allows promising early career researchers to develop their ideas performing independent research. Dr Cong, a former postdoc at the UMCG, will join GRIP's research group Drug Design to perform her research on Fighting coronavirus outbreaks.
Coronaviruses are a recurring threat to human health and the farming industry, and new epidemics will inevitably emerge. This project aims to identify and characterize compounds that block the conserved mechanism of viral replication in coronaviruses. The ultimate goal of this project is to provide anti-coronaviral compounds to fight future coronavirus outbreaks.
