Charity run yields more than € 56,000 for research of Dömling
February 6 villagers of Bedum raised more than 56.000€ during a charity run. The Bedumerwinterloop, meant to raise money for UMCG Cancer Research Fund, attracted many participants including more than 200 children. The money collected will support the research of Prof. Alexander Dömling, Drug Design group of GRIP, who participated in the run himself too. The research funded will help to collect important data which will form the start of the development of a new generation of even more effective immune-modulatory anti-cancer drugs.
Next to the run the event included many other activities. There were signed football shirts and balls, including from FC Groningen, SC Cambuur, Donar and Bauke Mollema. There was also a 24-hour marathon haircutting in Salon Okay Hairstyling in Bedum.
