About the Graduate School

The Graduate School of Science and Engineering (GSSE) offers PhD training across a broad array of scientific disciplines at the Faculty of Science and Engineering. PhD projects are imbedded in research institutes, where students receive individually-supervised research training of the highest standard. Renowned scientists supervise your research and help you develop into a fully-fledged scientist ready to succeed in academia or elsewhere. After finishing our PhD programme you will have a broad skillset and an internationally appreciated PhD degree.

The GSSE community is culturally highly diverse: Around 75% of our ~1,300 PhD candidates come from outside of the Netherlands. While our official working language is English, it is possible to hear multiple different languages on the campus on a daily basis.
