PhD training and PhD academy

At GSSE, PhD candidates are expected to complete an individual training programme of 30 ECTS. Only one course is mandatory - the Scientific Integrity (2 ECTS). The remaining 28 ECTS can be chosen freely based on one's interests and needs for skill development.

The training programme is created to prepare the GSSE PhD candidates both for academic and non-academic careers, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

GSSE PhD Academy

The GSSE PhD Academy offers courses that are divided into four domains:

• Research & education
• Wellbeing & employability
• Leadership & empowerment
• Culture & communication

Within these domains, PhD candidates can choose from ~25 courses that are organised regularly. Most of the groups are small, allowing a lot of interaction between peers and instructors.

In addition to the PhD Academy, PhD candidates can take courses offered elsewhere at UG, or outside.
