Educational program 2023 (preliminary)

The aim of the Summer School ‘Data Science and AI in Health’ is to introduce young, enthusiastic researchers to the principles of data science and AI in healthcare and clinical research. Participants will be introduced to various aspects of data science, such as setting up and implementing a project. This includes both the collection and cleaning of data and the practical conduct of an initial (machine learning) analysis of the collected data. The data science assignments will be executed in an online web environment (Jupyter Notebooks).

Educational program 2023 (preliminary)

Our summer school will have 1 or 2 overarching themes (t.b.d.). Within this/these context(s), we will explore how diagnosis and treatment can be improved with the help of data science and AI.

Logo Datacamp

Before the start of the course, you will be offered the opportunity to complete an online, Datacamp course to teach you basic skills that will be useful when participating in the Summer School 'Data Science and AI in Health'.

Arrival in Groningen

Sunday, July 16th, 2023
Afternoon:
- Arrival in Groningen. Participants from outside Groningen will stay the whole week in 'The Social Hub Groningen' within walking distance of the UMC Groningen.

Evening:
- Social activity and dinner

Start of the Educational program 2023 (preliminary)

During the morning sessions there will be lectures. The afternoon sessions will consist of assignments, with final presentations on Friday. Throughout the week, there will be online social activities. The educational program is scheduled from 9:00 until 17:00 CEST.

Monday, July 17th, 2023, 'Introduction into AI in Medical Sciences'
Morning:

- Introduction to AI in Biomedical Sciences by dr. Elena Sügis
- Ethical, Legal and Social issues of AI in Health by dr. Mirjam Plantinga

Afternoon:
- Introduction of the Machine Learning Canvas and start group projects the by dr.ir. Peter van Ooijen

Evening:
- Cook and eat together at the 'The Social Hub Groningen'

Morning:
- Introduction of the overarching medical themes (t.b.d.)

Afternoon:
- Work on group projects

Morning/Afternoon:
