Educational program 2024

The aim of the Summer School ‘Data Science and AI in Health’ is to introduce young, enthusiastic researchers to the principles of data science and AI in healthcare and clinical research. Participants will be introduced to various aspects of data science, such as setting up and implementing a project. This includes both the collection and cleaning of data and the practical conduct of an initial (machine learning) analysis of the collected data. The data science assignments will be executed in an online web environment (Jupyter Notebooks).

The Summer School Data Science and AI in Health, Edition 2024, will take place from 21-27 July, 2024, on site, at our beautiful University Medical Center (UMCG) in Groningen, The Netherlands.

Educational program 2024

In a pre-program before the start of the course, you will be offered the opportunity to complete an online, Datacamp course to teach you basic skills that will be useful when participating in the Summer School 'Data Science and AI in Health'. In addition to this, you will complete a massive open online course on FutureLearn.

During the face-2-face program, you will attend lectures and workshops from several experts to deepen your understanding. In addition to this, you will form teams to complete group exercises. There will also be an education excursion and we will play the serious game ‘AI Hospital’.

After the on-site week, there will be a hackathon, in which you will continue to work with your team (remotely) to further develop your concept to create a minimal viable product, which you will pitch for a jury of experts with varying backgrounds. The best team will win a prize provided by EIT Health.
