Acute Medicine

The Summer School on Acute Medicine offers a hands-on, practical learning experience for students and professionals interested in acute care. This program is designed for bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students eager to gain a deeper understanding of the patient journey—beginning before arrival at the emergency department (ED), continuing through stabilization in the ED, in the intensive care unit (ICU) and extending to recovery after hospital discharge.
The program also includes expert-led lectures on key topics, including the future of acute care, pre-hospital care, the role of AI and technology in medicine, sepsis, and cutting-edge research in acute care. Participants will engage in workshops covering essential skills like ABCDE assessment, Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and critical procedures such as intubation and CPR.
A highlight of the program is the masterclasses that provide valuable insights into conducting research. You’ll apply this knowledge by collaborating with peers from around the world to develop a research proposal aimed at improving care for a complex patient case.
This program blends practical training, expert-led lectures, and a dynamic social program, providing a comprehensive overview of the challenges and innovations in acute medicine. Additional information can be found below. We hope to see you there!
