Ecology and evolution of African fish radiations

Julia Day and her lab study the patterns and processes of diversification, and are particularly interested in common factors that promote and maintain elevated levels of species richness. In her work Julia combines a wide range of approaches, including phylogenetics, genomics, biogeography, and paleontology. The work of her lab uses a range of different vertebrate clades as model systems, but mostly focuses on African freshwater fish, which often contain an enormous diversity. On Thursday, Julia will talk about some of her work on these systems.
