NEXTGEN BIOFOAM; a research project on biodegradable technical foam
The KNN Bioplastic team and team of Prof Francesco Picchioni, Product Technology research group of ENTEG, have started a new collaboration on making biodegradable technical foams a reality.
The ambition of the consortium is to transform the foaming industry by supplying sustainable biopolymer foams. Foams are an essential material in our everyday lives and are used in bedding, isolation, fashion & footwear. Although foams enable superior material qualities, their environmental impact is unfortunately still significant.
The NEXTGEN BIOFOAM consortium uses innovative biopolymers to produce biodegradable foams for high-end applications based on a market driven demand. In order to successfully deliver the sustainable foam innovations KNN Bioplastic & the University have joined forces by combining applied know-how & in-depth biopolymer knowledge. The project is co-funded by the Topsector Energie from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
