The Imagine Life Sciences Foundation annually organizes the Imagine schools' competition with the purpose to link research, education and developing countries. In the competition, a scientist is linked to students. Prof . Dr. Marc van der Maarel from the Aquatic Biotechnology and Bioproduct Engineering-group of ENTEG , challenged the scholars to translate Western technology in the field of life sciences to developing countries - Ethiopia. The scholars won with their report "Wall-Nut; the solution in a nutshell." Their idea was to use the Jatropha plant to prevent erosion and to simultaneously produce biofuel and soap in Ethiopia.
