Bayu Jayawardhana Awarded Highest Honor by ITB
Prof. Dr. Bayu Jayawardhana, has been awarded the Ganesa Widya Jasa Adiutama Prize, the highest distinction from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in Indonesia. This prestigious award recognizes his outstanding contributions to science and technology, as well as his pivotal role in strengthening the collaboration between the University of Groningen (RUG) and ITB.
A recognition of scientific excellence and collaboration
As the Scientific Director of the Engineering and Technology Institute Groningen (ENTEG), Jayawardhana receives this honour for his academic achievements and his commitment to fostering international partnerships. An alumnus of ITB, he has not only advanced groundbreaking research but also actively contributed to building sustainable collaborations between Dutch and Indonesian institutions. His role as Chairman of the Bandoengse Technische Hoogeschool Fonds (BTHF) further underscores his dedication to strengthening scientific and technical ties.
The Ganesa Widya Jasa Adiutama Prize is awarded to individuals and institutions that have made exceptional contributions to the development of science, technology, and the arts. ITB Rector Tatacipta Dirgantara emphasized Jayawardhana’s worthiness:
"Prof. Jayawardhana deserves this award for his outstanding scientific achievements and his contribution to international academic collaboration, as well as to the reputation of both Indonesia and ITB. As an ITB alumnus, he has made important contributions to science and technology and is highly deserving of this honour."
Strategic collaboration between RUG and ITB
The partnership between RUG and ITB has grown into one of the university’s most productive research collaborations, particularly in technical fields. During ITB Rector Dirgantara’s visit to Groningen in September 2025, both institutions discussed ways to further deepen their strategic relationship, including expanded cooperation in research, education, and PhD programs.
