Abstract: The objective of this study was the development of new synthesis procedures by means of the hard template technique for the preparation of binder-free zeolite beads which are applicable for a wide range of zeolite frameworks, and the catalytic application of the obtained materials. The synthesis procedures were directed toward obtaining the highest degree of crystallinity and mechanical stability as well as the preservation of acidity. In addition to Al-type zeolite beads prepared by hydrothermal crystallization, synthesis of bimetallic zeolite beads possessing other metals such as Sn, Zr, Hf and Ti was also carried out using post-synthetic routes. In general, the performance of hierarchical and bead shape zeolites was compared with powder counterparts and lab-made extrudates in several catalytic reactions to elucidate the influence of the shaping technique on the final catalytic performance of prepared beads.
