Eastern Memories: Mongolia film Screening

On the occasion of the CEASG Conference Contemporary Mongolia, CEASG screens the documentary Eastern memories. Eastern Memories is a visually stunning road movie into the Far East of Mongolia and Japan. Finnish linguist and diplomat G. J. Ramstedt is our guide into the past, present and future. The father of modern Mongolistics and Finnish Indiana Jones of comparative language research, gives us words of wisdom drawn from a lifelong connection with humans and nature. The film asks us what a good life is built of; how language can connect people over cultural boundaries; and how market economy has managed to replace the old ways of the past (Director: Niklas Kullström, Co-director: Martti Kaartinen, Production: Niklas Kullström for Hillstream Pictures).
