GCEL and practice
On the 9th of November 2011 a delegation of Groningen Centre of Energy Law and the law firm Dorhout paid a visit to a local biogas producer. The delegates were informed about the entire process of producing biogas: from the separation of domestic waste to the injection of green gas into the grid.
After separating the wet organic fraction (organic waste) from the other components, t he organic waste is converted to biogas in a complicated washing and digesting process and upgraded to green gas after which it is injected into the regional grid. The presentation was followed by an extensive tour. The enthusiastic tour guide did not hesitate to explain every detail and managed to elucidate this comprehensive technical process.
