Dr María Lorena Flórez Rojas launches third phase of interactive game
Assistant professor of Technology Law María Lorena Flórez Rojas, together with PhD candidate Anna Helena Marquez Daly, has launched the third part of the interactive game “You Are Hired” . The game provides students with a hand-on legal and tech learning experience. The third part is called “Experiential Learning Spotlight”.
Developing a mobile health app
As part of the LL.M. in Technology Law & Innovation, students tackled their latest experiential challenge at Deloitte’s Amsterdam offices, immersing themselves in the real-world complexities of building a mobile health app.
Two fictional companies were co-creating an e-health application to track patient recovery data, and the students served as the companies’ legal consultants, advising on:
- GDPR & European Health Data Space: lawful sharing and secondary use of sensitive data.
- AI Act risk-classification: an AI module that scores insurance risk.
- NIS 2 Directive: supply-chain cybersecurity and 24-/72-hour incident reporting duties.
- European Accessibility Act: inclusive app design.
Deliverables included a 15-minute C-suite pitch, an executive report, and on-the-spot answers to “plot-twist” questions from the board.
Acquired many different skills
Students translated dense EU tech regulations into concise, actionable advice, produced board-ready risk matrices and data-flow diagrams under tight deadlines, and showcased strong team dynamics through rotating facilitation and peer feedback. Special thanks go to Deloitte for their hospitality and expert feedback. This collaboration reaffirms our commitment to experiential learning—seamlessly bridging classroom theory with real-world practice.
