From the pre-LLM to the LLM
Admission to the pre-LLM programme is valid for one year, and you can only be admitted once. You can only register for one pre-LLM programme. Should you not be able to complete all courses in that one year, the following rules apply:

60 ECTS after one year
After one year, if you have passed all courses of the pre-LLM, you will be issued a “proof of admission” granting you admission to the Master of Laws (LLM) programme corresponding to your pre-LLM programme. You will have to apply in Studielink for this LLM to allow for the paperwork to be dealt with by the administration.

50 ECTS after one year
If you have completed at least 50 ECTS - including the compulsory courses Law and Legal Skills: the Dutch example and the Research Seminar - after one year, you cannot start the LLM programme yet. ou will be allowed to extend your registration in the pre-LLM for a maximum of one year. During that year you will have to complete the remaining ECTS of the pre-LLM curriculum, after which you are admitted to the relevant LLM programme.

Less than 50 ECTS
If you have not completed at least 50 ECTS of the pre-LLM curriculum or have failed (one of) the courses Law and Legal Skills: the Dutch example and the Research Seminar, you are considered to have failed the pre-LLM programme.
This means that you cannot proceed to the LLM programme and also cannot continue in the pre-LLM. If you wish, you can apply for entry into the Faculty’s English-taught LLB programme International and European Law. You can request exemptions for part of the LLB curriculum on the basis of prior education, including courses passed during the pre-LLM year.
30 ECTS pre-LLM programmes
The same rules apply for the 30 ECTS pre-LLM programmes. The threshold is set at 20 ECTS in this case.
