Central lift Academy Building out of order for a long time

05 June 2025

The central lift in the Academy Building will be out of order from Wednesday 28 May until the renovation in late July/early August, due to a malfunction. Some locations are therefore completely inaccessible for people who normally rely on this lift. From mid-August, the lift is expected to be usable again.

Inaccessible locations for people who normally take the lift

The following locations will be completely inaccessible for people with a (functional) impairment who cannot use the stairs until mid-August.

Offices and desks

Building 1112, first, second and third floors, including:

Lecture halls

In addition, the following lecture halls in building 1112 are not accessible:

  • 1112.0254: Van der Leeuwzaal.
  • 1112.0260: Zernikezaal.
  • 1112.0347: Offerhauszaal.
  • 1112.0351: Geertsemazaal.

Are you a student with a (functional) impairment and do you have lectures or exams in one of the above lecture halls? If so, please contact your study advisor.

Are you an employee with a (functional) impairment and do you hold a lecture or supervise an exam in one of the above lecture halls? If so, please contact the back office (Academy building) through the Facility Portal ('Request' or 'Report'). For general questions about the lift being out of order, you can also contact the back office.

Alternative lift for some building sections

Alternatives to get to other building sections are available for people with (functional) impairments who cannot use the stairs. You can enter the Academy Building via the entrance on the left (next to the car park) and report to reception. Staff will then escort you to the relevant location in the Academy Building via an alternative lift.

Is there no one at the reception desk of the West Wing (at the left entrance)? Then contact the main reception desk of the Academy Building: 050 363 5250. Someone will then come and help you.
