MARE Publication Grant
Grants for the publication of legacy datasets of funerary materials from the Roman Near East
Between 2022 and 2026, the MARE project offers grants for the publication of archaeological research into funerary materials of the Roman Near East. The grants have the explicit aim to stimulate publication in English of so-called legacy data sets (old data sets) from the Roman Near East in order to increase the visibility of hidden or inaccessible collections. Examples include the publication of funerary materials housed in museums or depositories, the translation into English of MA theses or PhD dissertations dealing with legacy datasets, or the online publication of a database. Applications may be for a monograph, edited volume, article, catalogue, or a report, to be published in an international journal, publisher, or via an Open Access platform. Grants are awarded to publication projects already in progress at the time of application and do not cover research time.
Applications can be submitted at any time. In 2023, the selection committee meets in April and October to divide the annual budget of €1.500 between successful applications. For more information and the application form, please visit the grant section of our website.
