Contractor starts realisation of new patio for future Faculty of Law building

12 April 2022

The roof of the building at Oude Boteringestraat 18 was opened up this week for the construction of a new patio for more daylight in the middle of the building. In the coming period, contractor Visser & Smit Bouw will open up more of the underlying floors. This work is part of the renovation to create future accommodation for the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen.

The renovation began in January and, in the meantime, scaffolding has been placed around the building and a construction crane has been installed in the entrance area. In mid-April, work will start on the exterior, such as cleaning the facade, repairing damaged pointing, replacing the glass and painting the window frames. Staff and students of the faculty are expected to move into the renovated building in 2023.
