Students and wellbeing: the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic (video)
Almost all coronavirus measures have been lifted, which also means that young people can go back to living their old lives. Time will tell if this transition will take place without any hiccups. Dr Bertus Jeronimus, developmental psychologist at the UG, researches the emotional and psychological wellbeing of young people and worries about this generation. Developing a personality is crucial at a young age, but it is hard to do so without having social activities. Many students suffered from loneliness and low spirits as a result of the lockdowns and the lack of social activities. According to Jeronimus, it is important to pay close attention to their wellbeing in the time to come.
Between 14 and 25 March, the Groningen Wellbeing weeks will take place, aimed at students specifically. They will provide an opportunity to give your mental and physical wellbeing a boost. The UG also created a special portal for student wellbeing. It contains an overview of all points of contact, help sources, and initiatives in the area of student wellbeing within the University.
