UCF introduction week 2019

05 September 2019

During the last week of August the class of 2022 BSc Global Responsibility & Leadership (GRL) students joined University College Fryslân (UCF) for their introduction week. During the weekend before the introduction week, family members and friends of the new students were also invited to get a sneak peak of the brand new faculty building and the GRL programme.

On Monday August 26th, the Dean of Campus Fryslân, prof. dr. Andrej Zwitter, officially welcomed the students at the faculty and kicked off the academic and social programme of the introduction week. The new students enjoyed lectures about the history of Liberal Education and what to expect of student life. Furthermore, they participated in an interactive workshop about leadership and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Next to academic activities there were also plenty of social events during the week, such as a beach volleyball tournament, pub quiz and visits to both Franeker and Groningen. The week was concluded by a formal dinner, after which both first- and second year students as well as UCF staff joined the  dancefloor. Throughout the week, second year students acted as ‘moms and dads’ for the incoming students and supported them in completing 99 crazy challenges to get to know each other, the UCF community and Leeuwarden.

Everyone had one weekend to relax and recover from the introduction week, before classes started again on Monday September 2nd . We look forward to another great academic year!
