Young Academy Lunch: Dual Career Support for families
Have you found an academic position at the University of Groningen, but is your partner now struggling to find a suitable job? Are the demands of your academic career colliding with the obligations of your partner’s career and family life? Are you facing the ‘ two-body problem ’?
Almost all starting academics and their partners face these challenges. At our next Early Career Research lunch, we invite you and your partner for lunch to discuss the ‘ two-body problem ’. During the lunch, you and your partner will be able to speak with other young academics, their partners, members from UG dual career services and local career consultants, in order to:
- Find our what the university can do for the both of you,
- Provide input on the current level of dual career support, suggest new initiatives, and have an impact on the university’s future dual career policy,
-
Explore employment possibilities in the Groningen area.
When: Wednesday May 23rd, 12:00 - 14:00
Location: Van Swinderen Huys, Oude Boteringstraat 19, Groningen.
Childcare during the lunch
We realise as young academic ourselves that having young children can limit you from joining these types of events. Therefore, to support young academics and their partners, we welcome you to bring your children! regardless of age. We will offer a separate programme and childcare for your children, as well as a child-friendly lunch, from our friends at Kinderdagverblijf Kits!
We look forward to having you, your partners and children join us on May 23rd!
The Young Academy Groningen members.
