Dr Fred Keijzer, associate professor in Theoretical Philosophy and VIDI Laureate, has been appointed vice-dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. He succeeds Barteld Kooi, who served the Faculty for almost six years in this capacity.

Fred Keijzer specializes in the philosophy of mind, the philosophy of cognition and the philosophy of biology. In addition, he has a serious interest in science fiction about which he wrote a book in Dutch. He has worked at the faculty since 2001 and was Director of the Graduate School of the Faculty, member of the Faculty Council and of various committees.

The Board of the Faculty is grateful to Barteld Kooi for his great service to the faculty over a long period of time, and to Fred Keijzer for his willingness to become the new vice-dean.
