Upcoming at the Career Services
It’s Spring already! We are well ahead in the second semester, the exams are coming up or are just finished and the weather is getting better. At the Career Services and University faculties we still have many activities coming up in the coming months for you to focus and think about your (future) career.
ESN meets Career Services: Internationalise Your Career | April 18

Solliciteren met een functiebeperking | April 20
This event will be in Dutch, but translates to: ‘Applying with a disability’. It will be a seminar giving you practical tips as well as insights in how to ‘sell’ your disability. The Career Services, together with Stichting Studeren en Werken op Maat have invited people from the RUG and beyond to speak about the job application process, the RUG facilities and personal development. You can also bring your CV for checking and there is the opportunity to talk to the keynote speakers.
The event is free but you will have to register as there is a limited amount of places.
For more information you can check out the website or the Facebook event page.
Career Event – Faculty of Arts | May 9
The Faculty of Arts is organising a Career Event to focus on the job market and the opportunities for Arts students. The afternoon will consist of both lectures and seminars that cover a range of career possibilities like working at the government, starting your own company, or what skills are needed for a PhD student. They will also be focussing on the job application process and aspects like LinkedIn and CV.
Beside the lectures and seminars there will be a Career Fair outside on the Harmony Square where both alumni and companies are ready to talk to you about your future career. And there is even more, you can also get your professional LinkedIn picture taken and let your CV be checked.
For more information on all the lectures and seminars and the event in general you can visit their Facebook page.
Career Month Law |April 24-May 19
The faculty of Law is devoting a whole month on their students’ career (and rightly so we think of course!). They have a ton of workshops on how to create a good cv, Linkedin profile and cover letter, but also webinars and seminars. Furthermore they will provide training on job interviews and assessments. While job interviews are a classic part of a solicitation more and more companies also use assessments to test whether a candidate is suitable for a function. This is your opportunity to participate in simulations of job interviews and assessments!
At the end of the month, on the 19th of May, there will be a Career Day, organised by student organisation Nexus & the Faculty of Law. On this day speaker are invited to inform you about the law job market and mock cases and webinars will be presented by law firms & alumni. The faculty of Law has put together programs for students from all fields of law, of which you can find more information here .
