Building Blocks of Life grant for Prof. Onck

The NWO has granted Prof. Patrick Onck of the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, EUR 750,000. The grant was awarded to his project ‘Unravelling the molecular mechanism of impaired nuclear transport in ALS’ within the Building Blocks of Life programme. This programme aims to improve the fundamental understanding of molecular structures, dynamics and interactions that are based on the functions of cells. In total, ten million euros was granted to interdisciplinary research teams by NWO, FOM, ZonMW and STW. Sixteen out of 48 proposals were granted.
