Award ceremony for STQ certificates

On Tuesday 4 October 2016, Rector Magnificus Prof. Elmer Sterken presented the Senior Teaching Qualification (STQ) to twelve UG lecturers. The STQ is designed for lecturers with the ambition to grow in the field of academic teaching.
The award ceremony is the crowning achievement of the STQ programme introduced university-wide in 2014-2015. The programme is the result of the performance agreements between the UG and the Minister of Education. They set out that the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) is the first step towards the professionalization of lecturers, to be followed up by the STQ. Last year was the first time that STQ certificates were awarded, and the fourth cohort started the STQ programme in September 2016.
STQ programme
Lecturers with ‘cross-curricular’ education-related responsibilities regarding innovation and coordination are invited by their faculty boards to participate. The STQ programme is characterized by content-related meetings on strategic education-related themes, interaction with experts within and outside the UG, peer feedback sessions on participants’ own improvement projects, and the possibility to take a study trip. The STQ is intended for staff who hold or will hold a teaching-related managerial position or chair a programme committee or Board of Examiners.
