5 VENI grants for 5 Groningen philosophers!
It is with immense pleasure and pride to report that no less than five young scholars from the Faculty have been awarded with a prestigious VENI grant from the NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research).
We congratulate:
- Simon Friederich, Epistemology of the Multiverse
- Leah Henderson: Weighing evidence reliably
- Tamer Nawar: Relativism in Ancient Philosophy
- Doina-Cristina Rusu: Manipulating Spiritual Matter. How did Early-Modern Science Become Experimental?
- Sander Verhaegh: Matter over Mind: Skinner, Quine, and the Heyday of Behaviorism. (Sander is leaving for a permanent job in Tilburg in the Fall.)
Out of this year's 33 Humanities VENI grants no less than five have been awarded to our Faculty. These five turn out to be the half of the entire number of VENI's for the RUG this year. This is a fabulous score (in fact, a 100% score), and an excellent achievement of these colleagues and also of the faculty as a whole. It even surpasses the wonderful score of the two VENI's of last year (Han Thomas Adriaenssen and Andrea Sangiacomo). In addition to these 5 VENI's we have already got a VIDI (Emar Maier) and a Spinoza Prize (Lodi Nauta). It's been a wonderful year for our faculty.
