Rubicon grant for Pavlo Gordiichuk

Pavlo Gordiichuk, who was recently awarded a PhD, has received a Rubicon grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). A Rubicon grant enables young academics to spend two years conducting research at a top-class foreign institute. This gives them an opportunity to gain international research experience, which is an important step in any academic career. Gordiichuk will spend two years carrying out research in the Department of Chemistry at Northwestern University in the United States of America.
Our cells are highly receptive to stimuli from their direct surroundings. In his research project ‘Rapid nanofabrication of combinatorial bio-molecular arrays for mesenchymal stem cell development’, Gordiichuk will develop carefully designed, biologically active surface areas, and study the effect they have on the development of stem cells.
