New research centre: In the LEAD
To a large extent, management quality determines the success of businesses, according to global research. Professors Janka Stoker and Harry Garretsen are studying such subjects as what type of leadership is the most effective in certain situations in the new research centre ‘In the LEAD’.
Stoker: ‘We combine insights from the field of psychology about managers’ behaviour with insights from economics regarding the environment of organizations. A good example is our research for Aedes, the association of housing corporations. The corporations fall somewhere between the market and the government, and that asks quite a lot of managers. We’re going to look at what works or doesn’t work in that context.’
‘In the LEAD’ is part of the University of Groningen investment agenda, a EUR 35 million project for improving teaching and research.
The weekly online video magazine Unifocus highlights topics related to the University of Groningen in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
