New Unifocus video's: Unique light sculpture at Academy Square; Filming ultrapid dynamics; Geo Services

27 August 2014

The new Unifocus, the video magazine of the University of Groningen, is online. In this week's edition:

  • Unique light sculpture for University anniversary. At midnight on 22 August 2014, a unique light sculpture entitled 'SHA_RE' was unveiled to mark the 400th anniversary of the University of Groningen, a striking sculpture which will change the entire look of the Broerstraat.
  • Filming ultrarapid dynamics in molecules. Early in his career as a scientist, Geert Reitsma has already produced exceptional results. Three years of PhD research have yielded ten articles in renowned journals. His most recent measurements made with the soft X-ray free-electron laser FLASH in Hamburg are remarkable. He was the first in the world to conduct an experiment using isolated biomolecules.
  • Welcome to Geo Services. The University of Groningen's Geo Services stimulates and supports the use of spatial analysis and visualization techniques within the University and outside. Geo Services' activities involve geographic information systems (GIS), cartography and the utilization of geodata.

Each episode of the biweekly online video magazine Unifocus includes three items related to the University of Groningen, in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
