Title: Classification Challenges in the Affective Domain
Abstract:
The research of affective states, including emotions and moods, dates back all the way to Darwin, who wrote On the Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals in 1872. It was until 1995 before the field of affective computing was founded and computers were starting to be used to approach the field from a computer science perspective. With challenging machine learning tasks this is an interesting field that is gaining more and more attention. In this presentation I will show an overview of three classification tasks in the affective domain that involve the classification of emotional states from cognitive, physical and physiological measurements, and share results we obtained using a range of classifiers among which prototype based classifiers.
