Hinke Haisma appointed associate professor in Population and Child Health

Hinke Haisma has been appointed associate professor in Population and Child Health by the Faculty of Spatial Sciences on June 16th, 2013. Her research focuses on how biological and socio-cultural context can be included in monitoring growth of children and advice that is given to mothers on that basis.
Haisma studied Human Nutrition at Wageningen Agricultural University. She gained a PhD from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen, doing her research at the Universidade Federal de Pelotas in Brazil. The title of her thesis was ‘Energy utilisation of infants in southern Brazil - Breastfeeding patterns and socio-economic status in relation to obesity’.
