Title: "Computational Intelligent Diagnostic Systems in Medicine"
Abstract:
Brief explanation of computational intelligence vs artificial intelligence. The medical eBased environment; electronic health record; dealing with very large medical databases. Real case studies involving prediction of fetal aneuploidies, and prediction of preeclampsia for pregnant women will be presented.

Dr Schizas is Professor of Computational Intelligence at the Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus. He was Professor of Computer Information Systems at the University of Indianapolis (1989-1991). Since 1991 he has been with the Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus. He served as Vice Rector of the University of Cyprus (2002-2006). His research interests include computational intelligence, medical informatics, eHealth, diagnostic and prognostic systems, modeling of cognitive systems and human brain activity, computational modelling of visual selective attention. He edited conference proceedings and served as associate editor of the journal Technology and Health Care, area editor of the journal IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, and member of the editorial board of the journal Intelligent Systems, the Scientific World Journal, and the Journal of Intelligent and Fuzzy Systems. He is the founder of the Computational Intelligence laboratory of the University of Cyprus. He has taken part in European Commission initiatives for promoting the Information Society, especially the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
