Title: Belyi functions with nearly regular dessins d'enfant.
Abstract:
Rational Belyi functions are remarkable maps between Riemann spheres that
branch only above 3 points (say, 0, 1, infinity). They nicely correspond to
bi-colored plane graphs, called dessins d'enfant. Regular graphs (such as
variations of Platonic solids) give Belyi functions that are Galois
coverings of the Riemann sphere. Slightly irregular graphs give Belyi
functions that transform well-known differential equations to each other.
This application to transformation of differential equations (and special
functions) will be the topic of this talk.
